Benjamin Kummer, MD is a triple-board certified vascular neurologist and clinical informaticist at the Icahn
School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, where he serves as dual-appointed Associate Professor in Neurology and
Artificial Intelligence and Human Health. He also holds a joint appointment in Digital and Technology Partners
(DTP) at the Mount Sinai Health System (MSHS) as Director of Clinical Informatics in Neurology. At Mount
Sinai, Dr. Kummer has helped optimize neurological care by building solutions in Epic and other clinical
systems. He has implemented teleneurology systems such as video telehealth, remote patient monitoring, and eConsult programs, and serves on multiple internal Epic governance committees overseeing configuration changes in the EHR. He has also published a body of peer-reviewed work in “clinical neuro-informatics” – the intersection of clinical neurology, digital health, and medical informatics – with an emphasis on digital/telehealth, artificial intelligence, and machine learning. He is a member of the American Academy of Neurology’s Quality Informatics Subcommittee and the Vice Chair of the AAN’s Telehealth Subcommittee.
