Presbyterian Medical Center, he developed several highly regarded centers that are recognized
regionally, nationally, and internationally. These include centers of excellence in the care of patients
with Myasthenia Gravis and peripheral neuropathies, namely Guillain-Barré Syndrome (GBS) and
Chronic Inflammatory Demyelinating Polyneuropathy (CIDP). The former is recognized by the
Myasthenia Gravis Foundation of America (MGFA) and the latter by the GBS/CIDP Foundation
International. Additionally, he serves on the scientific boards of both organizations. He is also the cofounder of the Penn Amyloidosis Center, one of the largest centers in the nation treating patients
with amyloidosis. All of these programs excel clinically and participate in cutting-edge research and
clinical trials.

His talent as an educator to patients, students, residents, and fellows has earned him many prizes
and awards, including most recently the Osler Teaching Award. He has directed the highly popular
Penn Immunotherapy for Neurologic Disorders Seminar.
